On March 14th, we drove to Chicago, boarded The City of New Orleans Amtrak train, and headed south to warmer weather and greener pastures. We had a great week in New Orleans and Dauphin Island, AL.
Welcome to the big city! There is so much to see here…
The first morning we walked around and around looking for a fast, inexpensive place for breakfast. We happened upon The Grill and we were treated to a great greasy diner experience!
We had beautiful weather and enjoyed walking around the French Quarter (along with thousands of other people!). We enjoyed listening to the music everywhere.

We ate some great food while in NOLA. We just finished lunch at The House of Blues – jumbalaya, bread pudding and a hurricane to wash it all down. The girls liked their lunch, too – a hamburger and chicken fingers. 🙂
Riding the trolley up Canal Street and over to City Park. It was a fun way to see the city.
At City Park…We found a playground, but the big Live Oak was just as fun. And everything was so green!

What a great vacation! Did you get any photos of the whole live oak? Would love to see one. Thanks for sharing your goats yesterday!

I just posted a picture of different live oak – I didn’t get a picture of the whole live oak that the girls were playing on. It was HUGE! They are such cool trees! And I brought back leaves from live oaks and magnolia trees – they are both pretty cool.
