Halloween

A few weeks ago, we celebrated Halloween.  🙂  Then I broke my arm.  😦   So just now I am getting around to posting a few photos.  I didn’t take too many pictures this year…I think after 9 years of costumes and dressing up, it just didn’t seem like that big of a deal – to me, that is.  The girls still had a ton of fun.

For trick-or-treating, they dressed up as house painters.  They were so excited to wear their overalls (complete with paint splotches they drew on with fabric paint!) and hats.  They put paint splotches on their faces, stuffed their pockets with paint brushes, rollers, stirring sticks, paint samples and rags, and carried an old paint can for their candy.  It was really fun to watch them dream up their costumes and put it all together themselves.  And they looked great!  Too bad it was so cold that they had to wear coats over everything.  People gave them candy anyway.  🙂

The only decent photo I have of them! This was after supper and before they went out trick-or-treating.

The next day, we went to the Pleasant Valley Halloween Party with different costumes.  Lily dressed up as a 70s kid with an outfit my mom made me when I was little!  Sylvia was an 80s kid with a dress my mom made my sister when she was little.  I was a 60s adult with my mom’s Sunny and Cher Original 2 piece purple paisley bell bottoms and tank top.  We were awesome!  And we had a great time at the party.

I don't think Lily looks much like I did as a girl, but she's still cute! :)

My other camera!

I forget sometimes that I take pictures on 2 cameras!  I like my point and shoot – it takes good photos and is small and convenient so I use it most often.  But I also like my “big camera”, too – it takes good pictures and I have more control.  I just forget to download from both.  🙂  So here are a few photos from Sept. and Oct. from my Nikon/big camera.

We took a field trip to the Laura museum. How fun to sit in a covered wagon!

We made some maple cupcakes just like Laura Ingalls used to eat (minus the green sprinkles).

Lily’s birthday

Lily turned 8 on October 16th.  Wow – my baby is 8!  Here are a few highlights of her birthday.

On Lily's birthday, we met some friends at the middle school playground - her favorite playground - to play.

Lily really wanted to play games so she looked through a book of games and marked all the games she wanted to play. This was her version of Kick the Can - she kicked the can and then counted to give the others more time to hide.
